28 Aug 2008: Sri Krishna Janmashtami

Sri Krishna Janmastami marks the celebration of the birth of Bhagavan Sri Krishna,hero of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.  Lord Krishna is regarded as the 8th avatar or 'incarnation' of Vishnu. This festival is also known as Krishna Jayanti or Janmashtami. 

On this day, worshippers carry ornate, decorated statues and pictures of Lord Krishna through the streets, often with bands of musicians following or preceding the procession. In Patan, thousands of devotees flock to the Krishna temple to worship and receive blessings.
